Investment Associate

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly analytical and motivated Associate to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will support the full lifecycle of our investment process—from sourcing and analysis to due diligence, deal negotiation, and execution. You will prepare critical investment committee materials, develop advanced financial models, and provide strategic services to our Japanese investors. Additionally, you will contribute to a variety of investment-related activities and special projects that support the overall operational efficiency of our firm.

Key Responsibilities:

Investment Sourcing and Deal Flow:

  • Identify and source potential investment opportunities aligned with NordicNinja’s strategic focus.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline through market research, industry networking, and proactive outreach.

Analysis and Due Diligence:

  • Prepare detailed deal memos and investment analyses to evaluate potential opportunities.
  • Execute comprehensive due diligence, including market research, competitive assessments, and financial performance reviews to support investment decisions.

Financial Modeling and Deal Evaluation:

  • Develop and refine advanced financial models to assess deal viability and forecast potential returns
  • Analyze investment opportunities using quantitative and qualitative methods to determine strategic fit and valuation.

Deal Execution:

  • Assist in preparing all necessary investment documentation, including investment committee materials, legal agreements, and related documents.

Strategic Services for Japanese Investors:

  • Provide tailored strategic insights and support to Japanese investors, ensuring their perspectives and requirements are integrated into our investment processes.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between Japanese investors and our internal teams.

Additional Investment-Related Activities:

  • Monitor portfolio performance and engage in ongoing investment-related projects.
  • Attend industry events and conferences to stay informed on emerging trends and network with key stakeholders.
  • Provide support for special projects, strategic initiatives, and other investment activities as needed.

 

Qualifications:

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field is required; an MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus.

Experience:

  • 2-4 years of experience in investment banking, venture capital, private equity, or a similar analytical role is preferred.
  • Proven experience in financial modeling, due diligence, and deal execution is highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with expertise in advanced financial modeling and valuation techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, capable of preparing clear and persuasive investment memos and presentations.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an Associate to join our dynamic team. This role will focus primarily on fund management, reporting and compliance activities for our two active funds, while also supporting the end-to-end investment and divestment process. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn about venture capital operations and deal execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Fund Management & Compliance (Primary Focus):

  • Coordinate with fund administrators for capital calls, distributions, NAV calculations, and expense allocations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to LPs, including data collection from portfolio companies, quarterly reports, valuation analysis, and audit support.
  • Manage and maintain fund documentations, side letters, and LPA compliance.
  • Liaise with 3rd party professionals such as auditors, legal counsel and tax experts for legal, tax, compliance and governance matters.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance processes across jurisdictions (e.g., AIFMD, GDPR, AML/KYC) with support of local legal partners
  • Track and implement regulatory changes (via partner firms) impacting fund operations.
  • Maintain AML/KYC procedures and documentation for LPs and portfolio companies.
  • Prepare materials and minutes for Investment Committee and Advisory Board meetings.
  • Support senior management on monitoring fund cash positions and assist with financial forecasting.

Investment Activities (Secondary Focus):

  • Source and evaluate early-stage investment opportunities across Europe and Japan.
  • Conduct market, competitive, and financial analysis to support investment theses.
  • Prepare investment memos and support due diligence processes.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel on investment documentation and execution.
  • Support negotiation of investment terms and conditions.
  • Assist in preparing materials for internal committees and LP updates.
  • Contribute to other investment-related projects as required.

 

Qualifications:

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Law, or a related field is required; an MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in finance, legal, fund administration, or VC/PE operations.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Familiarity with fund structures, LP-GP dynamics, and compliance frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; high attention to detail.
  • Proactive mindset with a willingness to take ownership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English (Japanese professional proficiency is highly appreciated).
